Frackville is now requiring house numbers to be painted on garbage cans. This is being done to cut down on scofflaws putting their trash out for collection.
Borough Council members agreed to this new rule last week during their regular meeting.
While the total amount of delinquent sanitation bills wasn’t available at last week’s meeting, the council did report that in December 2024, a total of $5,923.75 in delinquent garbage bills was collected.
In other actions last week …
- Frackville council members approved the borrowing of $60,449.96 to purchase a new Street Dept. vehicle to add to its fleet. The money will be borrowed from Mid Penn Bank and will go toward the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD.
- The borough set the 2025 Health License registration and inspection fee for all food service businesses in Frackville at $100.
- Council voted to approve the preparation and advertisement of a proposed ordinance that would allow boards in the future to adjust the compensation of council members and borough’s Mayor, per a state law passed in October 2024. This would not apply to the council as it’s currently seated and is not an indication that wages will definitely go up, just that they could if voted upon by future boards.
