EV charging stations should be coming soon to the Onvo Travel Plaza at Highridge Business Park.
At their December meeting, Cass Township supervisors unanimously approved a request to allow for the installation of EV charging pumps at the travel plaza.
According to our reporting on the grand opening of Onvo at Highridge, four EV stations are planned for this year.
There are currently EV stations at the Mahantongo St. parking garage in Pottsville, at Leiby’s in South Tamaqua, at Vraj Temple near Summit Station, at Orlando’s Solar Charging Station in Mahanoy City, at Dutch Kitchen in Frackville, and at Geisinger-St. Luke’s near Orwigsburg.
Cass supervisors did not approve a request from Onvo to rename the road leading to its store to Travel Plaza Drive.
Township Solicitor Mark Semanchik told supervisors that he “had concerns about that because there was no indication that the property owner was prepared to improve the road to meet the specifications that the Township requires to take it over and then get Liquid Fuels (money) for the purpose of the maintenance.”
Semanchik recommended that supervisors only approve naming the road for the purposes of identification by emergency services.
