The City of Pottsville will officially kick off the Christmas season this Saturday, culminating in the lighting of the Christmas tree in Garfield Square.
The day begins at 1:30 p.m. with a North Pole Carnival to be held at the future site of Discovery Park, at Third and Market streets. That event runs until 4:30 p.m.
At the North Pole Carnival, there will be a lot of games and activities all labeled as family-friendly:
- Snowball Catapult
- Snowman Tin Can TOss
- Pin the Nose on Frosty
- Penguin Bowling
- Lollipop Sleigh
- Hot Cocoa Bar
There will also be gifts for children at the North Pole Carnival.
Following that, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree will be held at 6 p.m.
This year’s tree is a 25-foot Douglas fir, which was donated by Hexcel.
The North Pole Carnival and tree lighting are sponsored by Pottsville Recreation Commission.
