Tropical Storm Debby is making its way nearly on a direct path to Schuylkill County.
And the storm is bringing the potential for flooding rainfall using numbers we typically use for snow totals.
By the time it arrives here on Friday, Debby will be a Tropical Depression, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center.
As of the 8 a.m. Wednesday update, Debby is predicted to drop anywhere between 3-6 inches of rain on Schuylkill County.
National Weather Service predicts a widespread 3-4 inches of rain is likely. However, some localized rainfall totals could reach 6-7 inches by the time Debby makes its way out of the area.
Flooding of typically flood-prone areas is likely on Friday into Saturday.
The latest from the National Hurricane Center has Schuylkill County at a Moderate risk of Flash Flooding from rain associated with Debby on Friday.
Current TS Debby Track and Information
According to the 8 a.m. Wednesday advisory, TS Debby is positioned off the coast of South Carolina. The storm has maximum sustained wind of 45 mph and is crawling northeast at 4 mph.
Its current predicted path will have TS Debby impact the central and northern South Carolina coastline by early Thursday morning, making its way inland.
The storm will be in north central North Carolina by 2 a.m. Friday and at the Mason-Dixon Line by 2 p.m. Friday. Then-Tropical Depression Debby’s path hooks northeast, nearly passing right over Schuylkill County to the west.
By 2 a.m. Saturday, TD Debby will be near the northeastern New York border with Vermont.
