National Weather Service has placed Schuylkill County under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Tuesday, Aug. 6, until 7 p.m.
According to a Hazardous Weather Outlook, scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging wind of more than 60 mph and hail larger than 1 inch in diameter are possible during this time.
National Weather Service says some of the thunderstorms could train east over the same locations, causing excessive rainfall of more than 2 inches in an hour, increasing the risk of localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.
Today’s potential rain and storms comes ahead of an expected arrival of the remnants of Hurricane Debby later this week.
Currently, NWS is predicting the arrival of conditions from Debby anywhere between late-Thursday through Saturday with the potential for “soaking rain” from that storm.
