The state’s Dept. of Conservation of Natural Resources closed the beach at Tuscarora State Park to swimming due to unacceptable results from water samples taken from the lake.
This decision was made on Wednesday, May 29, due to resampling requirements.
Once acceptable water sample results are received from the lake, the beach will reopen for swimming.
DCNR has signs posted at the Tuscarora beach notifying the public that the lake has been closed for swimming.
Other activities at the park, including fishing, are unaffected by the beach’s closure.
Tuscarora’s beach was just opened for swimming for the season on May 24. Weekly testing is done and if results are unsatisfactory, DCNR says it’ll shut the beach down temporarily as it did on Wednesday.
