Two people were killed in a crash along Route 183 in Schuylkill County just after midnight on Friday.
According to State Police-Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened at about 12:10 a.m. in Wayne Township.
At that time, a vehicle driven by Nathan M. Reedy, 23, of Schuylkill Haven was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, according to police. In Reedy’s vehicle was a passenger, Italia M. Deering, 19, of Auburn.
Reedy lost control of his vehicle negotiating a right-hand curve on Route 183. His vehicle entered the northbound lane of the highway at the same time a vehicle driven by Linda E. Williams, 56, of Pottsville, was headed north.
Williams’ vehicle crashed into the passenger side of Reedy’s vehicle.
Reedy and Deering were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by teh Schuylkill County Coroner’s office, according to police.
Williams sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville.
Police say the high rate of speed and rain were a factor in the crash.
