The US Geological Survey has confirmed a magnitude 2.4 earthquake in Berks County on Friday afternoon.
According to USGS, the small tremor had an epicenter 1 kilometer north of Lincoln Park, between Sinking Spring and Shillington at about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The earthquake obviously wasn’t very strong because reports of it aren’t known about it until Saturday morning.
The Did You Feel It map from USGS is nearly empty, so it’s not known if the quake was felt here in Schuylkill County.
Three quakes rattled Berks County back in November 2021 in the span of one week, the strongest being a 2.1-magnitude tremor also near Sinking Spring.
It’s only been about 2 weeks since an earthquake in New Jersey, too, which was felt here in Schuylkill County.
If you did feel Friday afternoon’s earthquake, report that information to USGS through its website.
