Schuylkill Winterfest in Pottsville Draws Near

Event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The 2024 Schuylkill Winterfest, hosted by Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, is set for Saturday, January 20, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., in downtown Pottsville. This will be a rain or shine event.

Spanning from Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne along Progress Ave. to East Norwegian St., Winterfest features a variety of events designed for people of all ages.

Bob Carl Jr., President & CEO of Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce, says in a statement, “We are incredibly excited to bring the community together for the 2024 Schuylkill Winterfest. This festival is not just an event; it’s a celebration of community.”

A Glimpse into the Festivities

Here is a look at the events currently scheduled for Winterfest:

  • Kidz Corner: A fun area for the little ones will be set up in Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne’s parking lot, featuring a castle jumper, crafts, face painting, and more.
  • Live Entertainment: The Explore Schuylkill Stage, located at Logan and Arch Streets, will host performances by The Boys Upstairs (1-3 p.m.), contestants of the Greater Pottsville Winter Carnival (3:15 – 3:45 p.m.), and Hooligan (5-7 p.m.).
  • Yuengling Beer Bar: Quench your thirst at the bar on E. Arch Street, sponsored by Hidden River Credit Union, and don’t miss out on the commemorative cups sponsored by Masser Family of Companies.
  • Chili Cook-Off and Boilo Contest: Show off your culinary skills or just enjoy the tastes. The contests, sponsored by The Park Tavern & Grille and Tobash Financial Solutions, respectively, will be held at Arrow Studio & Events on N. Centre Street.
  • Craft, Food & Beverage Vendors: Over 25 vendors will line Progress Street, offering an array of local crafts, delicious food, and spirits.

Additional Highlights

  • Parking: Details coming soon, with special parking for volunteers and vendors at the Capitol Parking Garage on Progress Street.
  • Stay Warm: Enjoy the warmth from burn barrels located throughout the event, courtesy of PSECU.
  • Information Center: Stop by the center at Alvernia University Pottsville CollegeTowne for Winterfest hats and commemorative cups, sponsored by Catholic Charities Diocese of Allentown.
