A group of hunters say they found a body laying face down in a wooded area outside St. Clair on Thursday morning.

A group of archery hunters discovered the body of an individual on Thursday morning in a wooded area outside St. Clair.

The Canary spoke with Bernie Guzick, of Port Carbon, who said he was bow hunting with two friends at the time he discovered the body. One of his hunting companions called police to notify them.

Guzick says the body was face down in the ground when he discovered it.

The hunting group was in a wooded area of East Norwegian Twp. between the St. Clair Industrial Park and the shopping area along Route 61, off Tunnel Rd. It was a little before 10:30 a.m. when the body was discovered.

UPDATE: As of 5 p.m., State Police say the identity of the body is unknown.

They say the person “appears to be a male” and was wearing a light gray sweatshirt, a white T-shirt, dark gray jogging pants, gray socks, and tan and gray men’s shoes with white soles, size 11.

Police add the deceased is between 5-feet, 10 inches and 6-feet, 2 inches tall and weighed between 175 and 225 pounds.

Anyone with information that may help identify the person found today outside St. Clair is asked to call State Police-Schuylkill Haven barracks at 570-754-4600.
