Firefighters in Pottsville were fast on the scene Monday afternoon to douse a blaze at a home in the city’s Yorkville section.
City fire departments were dispatched to 2053 Elk Ave. around 1 p.m. Monday. Dispatches from the Schuylkill County 9-1-1 center indicated the fire was located in the living room at that rancher home.
There was an initial call to 9-1-1 that said work was being done on the home at the time.
Upon our arrival a short time later, there was no smoke visible coming from the home and the scene was mostly cleared by 2 p.m.
By that point, Pottsville Fire Chief James Mistishin was conducting an investigation of the home’s interior and seemed to be focused on the living room area.
An official cause of the fire is unknown as of now.
