Bomb Threat Emailed to Fairlane Village Mall, Stores Evacuated Tuesday

A search of the mall came up empty for a bomb.

Fairlane Village Mall management reported an email bomb threat to police on Tuesday, prompting an evacuation of the shopping center for several hours.

An emailed bomb threat to the Fairlane Village Mall prompted an evacuation of the premises on Tuesday afternoon.

According to information from State Police-Schuylkill Haven, troopers were summoned to the mall in Norwegian Township, just outside Pottsville, at about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday. Property management told police they had received an email indicating a bomb was on the premises.

Members of the PSP Schuylkill Haven barracks along with its K9 explosives detective team, the Pottsville Police Dept., St. Clair Police Department, Pottsville Fire Dept., and Norwegian Township supervisors were on the scene to assist with an evacuation of the mall.

Police report after a search of the property, no explosive device was found. The property was turned back over to the mall management at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
