UPDATE: Pottsville East Side Shooter Identified

A shooting on Pottsville’s East Side Tuesday morning has left one man dead.

THE LATEST: According to a report from the Republican Herald newspaper, the shooter has been identified as 30-year-old Patrick McGuinness, who lived at 427 E. Norwegian St.

McGuinness reportedly told police he shot a person – a person who hasn’t been identified by authorities – as they attempted to enter his home.

He’s currently being charged with a felony for illegally possessing a gun, according to the newspaper’s report.

ORIGINAL REPORT: According to a report from WBRE-TV, police arrived at 427 E. Norwegian St. at about 8:30 Tuesday morning and found one man dead inside.

No identity of the reported shooting victim has been released.

Police told WBRE that the public is in no further danger because of this morning’s incident.
