Travis Blankenhorn hit his 9th home run of the 2023 season on Saturday for the Rochester Red Wings (AAA-Nationals).
The Pottsville native also extended his on-base streak to 26 games but the Red Wings dropped 2 games of a doubleheader to the Worcester Red Sox.
In Game 1, Blankenhorn ripped a two-run homer, his ninth, in the 4th inning to give Rochester a temporary 2-1 lead over the WooSox.
However, the Red Wings were unable to hold the lead and dropped Game 1, 5-2.
Blankenhorn’s homer extended his on-base streak to 25 games. And his multi-RBI performance was his 10th of the season, which leads the team.
In Game 2, Blankenhorn’s 6th-inning single extended that on-base streak to 26 games. But again, the Red Wings came up short, dropping the nightcap, 3-2.
Blankenhorn’s 9 home runs are tied for the most on Rochester this season and his 31 RBI lead the squad. Of his 45 hits this season, 22 of them are for extra bases.
