A Pottsville man died following a two-vehicle crash outside the city on Sunday afternoon.
According to information released by State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Bulls Head Rd. and Elm St. in Norwegian Township.
Police say 84-year-old James J. Davidson, of Pottsville, was riding a Honda Trail 125 bike west on Elm St., approaching the intersection with Bulls Head Rd. Davidson stopped at the Stop sign but failed to yield the right of way when turning onto Bulls Head Rd.
At that time, a Chevrolet Cruze driven by Jori L. Stefnic, 30, of Pottsville, was traveling north on Bulls Head Rd.
Stefnic’s vehicle crashed into Davidson’s bike at the 11-o’clock position, police say. The bike stopped in the northbound lane.
Medical emergency and fire personnel attended the scene. Police say Davidson suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken to nearby Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville for treatment.
Davidson succumbed to those injuries at the hospital, police confirmed.
Stefnic was not injured in the crash.
