National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Schuylkill County for most of Saturday.
The Wind Advisory goes into effect at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 1, and extends until 2 a.m. Sunday, April 2.
Forecasters believe sustained winds between 20-30 mph could be accompanied by gusts up to 55 mph.
Power outages are possible due to the strong winds.
April Showers
In addition to the strong winds on Saturday, rain and perhaps a thunderstorm is expected in Schuylkill County on Saturday.
The greatest chance of rain and a storm is before noon. Up to one-half inch of rain could fall during the early part of Saturday.
One silver lining is that it’ll be warm in the coal region today. The expected high temperature in Pottsville is 69 degrees on Saturday. That warmth will be temporarily short-lived.
On Sunday, a high of only 46 degrees is forecast by NWS. But the Springtime warmth returns next week, with highs in the 60s expected.
Girardville Parade Starts at Noon
The morning rain will not dampen the spirit of the Girardville St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday. That’s expected to step off at noon today.
It was postponed from last week due to weather.
