Wilma I. Klinger, 100 – Active in Community, Painter

Wilma I. Klinger, age 100, formerly of Weishample, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at The Gardens at York Terrace, Pottsville. 

She was born on Friday, December 1, 1922, in Barry Township, a daughter of the late Earl Kimmel and the late Verna (Kessler) Kimmel. 

Wilma was a 1941 graduate of the former Hegins Township High School. 

She was a member of Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample; where she taught youth Sunday School for fifty years.

In her younger days, was a 4H leader, a minority inspector and helped at the election board of Barry Township for over 50 years.

She was the first female master of the former Weishample Grange and lecturer for many years. Wilma was a member of the Ashland and the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She liked to paint and had a space at the Hegins Craft Fair for many years. Her winter hobby was putting jigsaw puzzles together. Wilma was an avid Phillies fan. 

Her husband, Clair D. Klinger, passed away in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, Bobby Kimmel and Harold Kimmel, and two sisters, Carolyn Geist and Arlene Herb. 

She is survived by two sons, Terry C Klinger and his wife Jeannette of Valley View and Ricky D Klinger and his wife Barbara of Pottstown; a daughter, Tamie D Holland and her husband Scott of Millsboro, DE; six grandchildren, Vicki Wilson, Michelle Miller, Beth Southwood, Lisa Wombaugh, Kimberly Holland, and Kayla Spickler; sixteen great-grandchildren, Steve Wilson, Travis Wilson, Dara Desrosier, Farren Miller, Emma Southwood, Lauren Southwood, Jacob Southwood, Felicia Wasson, Korbin Poman, Alexia Cotellese, Abagail Cotellese, Levi Spickler, Malakai Spickler, Noa Spickler, Ollie Spickler, and Samuel Creason; four great great grandchildren, Logan Roadcap, Gatlin Roadcap, Olivia Engle, and Anja Wilson; a brother, Leonard Kimmel of Frederick, MD; two sisters, Sandra Fees of Valley View and Ellen Woodring of Tremont; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, on Friday, February 24, 2023, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.
