Jill M. Slish, 62 – Volunteer, Willing to Help Others

Jill M. Slish, 62, of Forestville, Cass Township, passed away in the presence of her loving family at home.

Born on April 4, 1960 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (nee Quinn) Donlin. She attended St. Vincent de Paul Parochial School and Minersville Area High School; and she furthered her education, earning an Associate Degree in business.

She was employed by Schuylkill Medical Imaging, Pottsville, for 20 years, most recently as assistant manager. She previously worked at the Minersville Area School District and for Schuylkill Dental Medicine, Minersville.

She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville, and a member of the Ladies’ Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH), JFK Division 2, Pottsville, where she served as Catholic Action Officer since 2016.

During her life, Jill had volunteered her time to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program; and also supported other charitable organizations, including Unbound (formerly Christian Foundation for Children), a child sponsorship program that helps to provide educational needs to children in Africa.

Jill will be remembered for her caring heart, her willingness to help others, her strength and determination, her beautiful smile, and her ability to make others smile with her quick wit.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Lee Slish, in 1996.

Jill is survived by her husband and best friend of 45 years, Edward R. Slish; her son, Robert E. Slish and his wife, Tammy, Forestville; two grandchildren, Ciara Bainbridge and Gavin Slish. She is also survived by three siblings, Thomas “Tim” Donlin and his wife, Pat, Jonestown, Cass Township, Colleen Litwak, Gordon, and Jody Hafer and her husband, Rick, Pine Grove; nieces, nephews and cousins; and her constant puppy companion, Annabelle.

The family will accept visitors on Friday morning from 8:30 A.M. at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Visitation will end promptly at 9:45 A.M. when procession will form. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family prefers contributions to Hillside SPCA or Ruth Steinert SPCA.
