A Lake Wynonah resident was duped recently into thinking they were about to receive a Maine Coon kitten.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, a resident along Running Deer Drive says they were supposed to receive a Maine Coon kitten from an organization known as Maine Coon Kittens for Adoption and Rehoming on Jan. 2.
The Lake Wynonah resident tells police they paid $950 for the kitten but using Visa gift cards.
In numerous other reports of Schuylkill County residents getting scammed, paying with gift cards instead of a traditional debit or credit card is often a sign of a potential scam.
By Jan. 8, the Lake Wynonah resident called police to report they hadn’t received the kitten and their money was never returned.
