If someone asks you to pay in gift cards, red flags should be flying.

maine coon kitten scam

A Lake Wynonah resident was duped recently into thinking they were about to receive a Maine Coon kitten.

According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, a resident along Running Deer Drive says they were supposed to receive a Maine Coon kitten from an organization known as Maine Coon Kittens for Adoption and Rehoming on Jan. 2.

The Lake Wynonah resident tells police they paid $950 for the kitten but using Visa gift cards.

In numerous other reports of Schuylkill County residents getting scammed, paying with gift cards instead of a traditional debit or credit card is often a sign of a potential scam.

By Jan. 8, the Lake Wynonah resident called police to report they hadn’t received the kitten and their money was never returned.

THIS IS THE LATEST EXAMPLE OF A SCHUYLKILL COUNTY RESIDENT GETTING SCAMMED. IT OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN VICTIMS ARE ASKED TO PAY IN GIFT CARDS. CHECK OUT MORE REPORTS OF LOCALS GETTING SCAMMED SO YOU CAN SEE THE PATTERNS:
