🇺🇸 Richard L. Smith, 73 – Served 2 Tours in Vietnam

Richard L. Smith, 73, of Orwigsburg, formerly of Palo Alto, went home to be with the Lord after a long fought battle with Wegeners Granulomatosis and passed from AML on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his residence. 

Born in Pottsville, January 4, 1950, He was a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Hearn) Smith.

He was a graduate of Pottsville High School Class of 1968.

Richard severed 2 tours in Vietnam for the US Army and worked as a Trackman for Conrail before becoming disabled.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years Lola (Welikonich) Smith: 2 daughters Denise Grajewski and her husband Mark of Greenwood, SC; Erika Fisher and her husband Matthew of Orwigsburg; 3 brothers; Harold Smith of Palo Alto; Russell Smith of Palo Alto; Joseph Smith of Frackville; 1 sister Carol Newton of Palo Alto; 3 grandchildren Jeremy Grajewski, Christian Fisher and Zoe Fisher. Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2023, from Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1 N. Front St. St. Clair, PA 17970. 

The Rev. Joseph McDemus will be officiating. 

Friends may call from 9:30-11 a.m. Monday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Memorial Fund, PO Box 172, St. Clair, PA 17970.
