Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to $1.35 BILLION

That’s enough money to retire to Lake Wynonah!

Friday night’s Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $1.35 billion.

Mega Millions drawing is held this Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 p.m. Check back with Coal Region Canary for the winning numbers soon after they’re drawn.

To win the Mega Millions, players must pick 6 numbers in all from 2 pools of numbers. Five numbers are chosen from balls marked 1 through 70. They’re often called the white balls. Another number is chosen from balls marked 1 through 25. That’s known as the gold Mega Ball.

If someone picks all 6 balls correctly, they win the jackpot.

Tickets are $2 each.

No Winners in 2023

There haven’t been any Mega Millions jackpot winners this year so far. In 2022, Mega Millions handed out a $1.337 billion jackpot to an anonymous partnership that bought the winning ticket in Illinois.

During Tuesday’s drawing for more than $1 billion, there were no jackpot winners, of course. However, there were 13 Match 5 winners, including 1 from Pennsylvania.

Chances of Winning the Mega Millions Jackpot

The reason there aren’t many jackpot winners in the Mega Millions lottery shows how difficult it is to come away with it.

There’s just a 1:302,575,350 chance of picking all 6 numbers correctly.

However, prizes are awarded for less numbers picked correctly.

Players can win $1 million if they match all 5 white balls. There’s a 1:12,607,306 chance of that happening.

Even matching just the gold Mega Ball gets you your $2 back.
