An Orwigsburg woman succumbed to injuries she sustained in a motorcycle crash in Schuylkill County on Saturday morning.
According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, the crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. along Fair Rd. (aka Route 895) in S. Manheim Twp., just east of Jan Drive and its intersection with Fair Rd.
At that time and place, 50-year-old Leslie Gingrich, of Orwigsburg, was headed west on 895 on her 2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster. As she “avoid hitting a large depression in the stoned area of the roadway”, Gingrich, who was not wearing a helmet as she was riding, lost control of the motorcycle.
She sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was rushed by ambulance to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital near Orwigsburg. Police say Gingrich died at the hospital from injuries she sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to police information.
