Pennsylvania State Police are reporting a hit-and-run crash under the notoriously low Cressona bridge Wednesday morning in which the other driver fled the scene.
According to information released today from the Schuylkill Haven barracks of PSP, the crash happened just before 8 a.m. today on S. Sillyman St. in Cressona.
Under the tight, low-hanging bridge underpass, a pickup truck was headed south. And at the same time, a State Police Bearcat “armored response vehicle” was headed north.
As both approached the underpass, police say the pickup veered into the northbound lane. The truck’s side-view mirror hit the side-view mirror on the State Police vehicle, breaking it off.
Police say the armored vehicle pulled over at the scene. However, the pickup truck kept going. They describe it only as a “dark-colored” truck which continued south after the collision.
