National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning in effect until 2 p.m. for Schuylkill County.
The Warning was posted at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
Overnight, freezing rain has covered much of the area in a significant glaze of ice. NWS expects ice accretions to total between one-quarter and one-half inch.
There are extremely dangerous travel conditions, especially on secondary roads.
The ice build-up could lead to power outages for some in the area.
Eventually, the wintry weather should give way to plain rain as temperatures rise through the day.
We’re expecting a high temperature of about 36 degrees on Sunday.
