1 Dead in Route 309 Crash on Thursday

A Tamaqua man died Thursday afternoon in a crash on Route 309. And police are still investigating the incident.

According to information from State Police in Frackville, 46-year-old Carter Davison was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened in Rush Township just before 3 p.m.

Police say Davison was traveling south on Route 309 in Rush Twp. A vehicle driven by a Hazleton man, Adam Guzman, with a passenger inside, was traveling north.

At the intersection of Route 309 and E. Main St., police say Davison turned his vehicle left into northbound lane and Guzman’s vehicle collided with it, hitting it on the passenger side.

A deputy with the Schuylkill County Coroner’s office pronounced Davison dead at the scene.

Guzman and his passenger were taken by ambulance to LVHN-Hazleton.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours, police say, while the scene cleared and members of PSP Troop L’s Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Services Unit.
