Fire severely damaged a home on Garfield Square in Pottsville on Tuesday afternoon.
City firefighters – with the help of emergency units from around the area – quickly descended upon 502 W. Market St. in the city a little after noon today and found flames and heavy smoke pouring from the old brick building at that address.
As usual, Pottsville firefighters worked quickly to douse the flames and get the fire under control. Much of the worst damage, at least from the outside, appeared to be in the rear of the building and on the second floor.
No word on a cause of the fire at this moment. We’ll have more on this situation as details are released.
