Police ID Driver in Pottsville Hit-and-Run That Injured 12-Year-Old Girl – Not Yet Releasing Name

pottsville police identify driver involved in hit and run crash downtown not releasing name

Pottsville Police say they’ve identified the driver wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash downtown last week that injured a 12-year-old girl from the city.

According to a post on the Pottsville PD Facebook page, they’ve identified the driver involved in the crash. But they’re not releasing the name of that driver just yet.

Presumably, it is the driver of a dark blue or black extended cab pickup with a matching hard cap over the bed that was seen leaving the scene of the crash at N. Centre and E. Race streets. That was pretty much all police had to go on from witness accounts from the scene.

The crash happened a little after 6 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses, in a report filed by WNEP-TV, say a vehicle maneuvered to avoid another at that intersection. At the same time, the 12-year-old girl stepped off the sidewalk and was struck. The driver of the pickup suspected of hitting the girl took off, driving north on Centre St.

Anyone with information on this crash should call Pottsville PD at 570-628-3792.
