A Schuylkill County firefighter is reportedly in serious condition Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle at the scene of a crash the previous day.
According to Donaldson Fire Company Capt. Patrick Kimmel, the incident happened at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday when firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle crash. Firefighters from Tremont, Frailey Township, and Joliett responded.
Kimmel says one of the firefighters was assigned to fire police duties at the scene of that crash. While on duty, the fire police officer was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene, Kimmel says.
The injured firefighter was taken to Hershey Medical Center via medical helicopter and is currently in serious condition.
