Helen M. Shamus, 98, formerly of Saint Clair, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at Seton Manor Nursing Home, Orwigsburg.
Born Sept. 24, 1923, in New Boston, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Kozak) Wabo.
Helen was the owner of Helen Shamus Beauty Salon, Saint Clair, before retiring.
She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Shamus, in 2011, and sisters, Nellie Dobek and Emily Salamon.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Tarconish and her husband, Edward, of Barnesville; sister, Teresa Fraser, of Clifton, N.J.; granddaughter, Emily Tarconish and her partner, Omkar Bhat; grandson, Jacob Tarconish; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., Saint Clair. Monsignor William F. Glosser will officiate. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville
