A Pine Grove man is battling “life-threatening injuries” after getting hit by a vehicle earlier this week in the borough.
According to information released Wednesday morning by State Police in Schuylkill Haven, 63-year-old Jeffery Rumpf was hit by a vehicle Monday night, shortly after 10, on Route 895 (E. Wood St.). Police say Rumpf was on his hands and knees, wearing dark clothing, on the road when he was hit. They don’t indicate why he was there.
As he was on all fours in the road, a vehicle driven by a 26-year-old Reinholds woman was approaching in the westbound lane of the road. As she approached Rumpf, the woman attempted to avoiding hitting him but ended up hitting him in the head.
Rumpf was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment.
