After Schuylkill County’s most productive week of vaccinating residents for COVID-19, there are now nearly 10,000 people who’ve gotten both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
Still, that’s just a little more than an estimated 9% of the population old enough to receive a vaccine.
According to data from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health, 2,366 people in Schuylkill County got their second COVID vaccine dose last week (Feb. 21-27). That brings the cumulative total to 9,785 people. Another 2,314 people got their first shot. Now, more than 20,5000 in Schuylkill County have gotten a first dose.
These totals do not include people who received their COVID vaccine at a federal location, such as a VA hospital or at a federal prison.
The 4,680 shots given last week was the most in a single week in Schuylkill County, likely due to the temporary clinic, that’s being managed by Walmart, inside Fairlane Village Mall outside Pottsville.
