A Schuylkill County man called police on Sunday morning saying he was hot on the tail of a Jeep he thought was stolen from his home.
The caller said he was on Interstate 81 going north near Mile Marker 128, between the Frackville and Mahanoy Township exits.
The call came in just before 11 a.m. Sunday, May 31.
Numerous police units responded to the call in an attempt to track down the alleged stolen Jeep.
However, the police search turned up nothing.
But when police returned to the home of the caller who said his Jeep was stolen, guess what they found …
The “stolen” Jeep.
Police say the Jeep was being stored in the man’s driveway.
What we’re sure wasn’t a very long questioning of the caller led police to believe the man was trashed. Police took him into custody on DUI charges.
