Minersville Keeps Rolling

For the second consecutive league match, Minersville put up double-digits on the scoreboard. On Thursday, the Miners scored 10 in a shutout of Nativity. In just 4 matches, Minersville found the back of the net 33 times in league play.

Even at 4-0 and winning each convincingly, the wins only count as one and they’ll need to keep rolling as they have. That’s because Williams Valley keeps winning. On Thursday, the Lady Vikes topped Weatherly, 8-0. Williams Valley is at 3-0, just one less match played than Minersville. Those two face off next week in league play.

In the other Division 2 match, Schuylkill Haven topped Tri-Valley, 3-2, for their second straight league win.

Pottsville Topples Blue Mountain

In Division 1 play, Pottsville went into the half with a 2-0 lead on Blue Mountain. The Lady Tide held off Blue Mountain in the second half for a 2-1 win.

The victory moves Pottsville (3-0) into sole possession of first place in Division 1, with a game in hand right now on second-place Tamaqua (3-1).

Tamaqua put the pressure on both Tamaqua and Blue Mountain Thursday by taking care of Pine Grove at home, 2-0.

In the other Division 1 match, Lehighton got its first league win of the season, topping North Schuylkill, 1-0.

Next Up …

League play picks back up on Monday.

In Division 1, it’ll be North Schuylkill heading down to Pottsville. Blue Mountain travels to Lehighton, and Tamaqua shoots out 209 to play Jim Thorpe.
