Boys Soccer – Toppers, Wreckers, Cardinals All Hold Division Leads

Pine Grove’s keeping the pace in Division 1 of Schuylkill League boys soccer. But Blue Mountain remains right by the Cardinals.

Schuylkill League Boys Soccer Scores – September 11, 2019

On Wednesday, Pine Grove shut out Tamaqua, 1-0, in front of a home crowd. That moves the team to 4-0 to start league play. Right behind the Cards, with a game to play, is rival Blue Mountain. They blanked Pottsville on Wednesday, 2-0, in front of their home fans in Orwigsburg. The Eagles are 3-0 to start league play this year.

In the other Division 1 game on Wednesday, Lehighton got in on the winning for the first time this year in Schuylkill League play. The Indians topped North Schuylkill, on the road, 5-0.

On the small school side in Schuylkill League Division 2, Weatherly and Nativity each earned victories to keep setting the early standard.

The Wreckers shut out Williams Valley, 1-0, out in Williamstown. And in Minersville on Wednesday, the Hilltoppers scored plenty on the Miners in a 4-1 victory.

Each team is 3-0 in the early going of league play. And they’ll need to keep up that pace because Schuylkill Haven is right behidn them. On Wednesday, the Hurricanes topped Tri-Valley in a match at Haven.

Next Up …

Haven and Nativity are right back at it on Thursday, making up their match that got postponed on Monday.

The rest of the league is back in action on Saturday.

That’s when Schuylkill Haven entertains Williams Valley, Weatherly goes to Tri-Valley and Minersville heads north to take on Lourdes.

In Division 1 action, Blue Mountain goes up to North Schuylkill. Pottsville heads out to Lehighton, looking to get into the win column itself for the first time this league season, and Pine Grove travels to Jim Thorpe.
