Big Winners Highlight Opening Night of Schuylkill League Girls Soccer

Schuylkill League girls’ soccer action got underway on Wednesday.

Blue Mountain, Pottsville, and Pine Grove each got off to strong starts in league play, posting convincing wins in Division 1.

In Division 2 play, the Lady Vikes stopped Nativity. Meanwhile, the Lady Red Raiders and Battlin’ Miners turned in clean sheets during lopsided wins to open league play.

Here’s a look at the final scorelines from Wednesday’s action.

  • Blue Mountain 4:1 Tamaqua
  • Pottsville 4:1 Jim Thorpe
  • Lehighton 0:2 Pine Grove

Division 2

  • Williams Valley 4:1 Nativity
  • Weatherly 0:10 Lourdes
  • Tri-Valley 0:6 Minersville

Upcoming Schuylkill League Girls Soccer

Matchday 2 in Schuylkill League girls’ soccer is this Saturday.

Jim Thorpe travels to Blue Mountain. Tamaqua will be in Lehighton and Pine Grove travels to North Schuylkill in Division 1 action.

Among the small schools in Division 2, Lourdes hikes to Williams Valley. Nativity heads out to Tri-Valley and Minersville will be in Schuylkill Haven.
