It’s a non-league week so you’re going to see some unfamiliar names on the schedule. And in some cases, local teams play each other when they otherwise wouldn’t.

Here’s a look at the Week 1 schedule, starting with the games Friday night:

Blue Mountain at Muhlenberg
Nativity BVM at Millersburg
Williams Valley at Minersville
Jim Thorpe at Schuylkill Haven
Pine Grove at Northern Lebanon
Tamaqua at Line Mountain
North Schuylkill at Loyalsock Twp
Lehighton at Fleetwood
Pottsville at Hazleton
Mahanoy Area at Tri Valley
Shenandoah Valley at Morrisville
Marian Catholic at Midd-West

Or you can head down to Schuylkill Haven and see the Hurricanes play up and take on Jim Thorpe in front of their home crowd.

And in another local contest Friday night, you have an excuse to drive out to the Hegins area to see Tri-Valley host Mahanoy Area.

All the other local teams are on the road this week and that includes the lone Saturday matchup when Panther Valley takes on Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

North Schuylkill Ready for a Big Season

There’s little doubt that North Schuylkill has itself a pretty good team in the 2019 season. On Thursday night, WNEP revealed the Spartans as its #2 team on the weekly Super 16 countdown.

Keep your eye out for Tamaqua as well, according to the experts.
