Pine Grove needed just 4 innings on Tuesday to take care of Bloomsburg, 17-0, in the semifinal round of the PIAA Class 3A softball tournament.
The Lady Cardinals struck for 5 runs in the 1st inning to set the tone. They added another run in the 2nd before piling up 5 and 6 in the next two innings For The Win.
Avery Nagle had 3 hits and 4 RBI for Pine Grove. Megan Wolfe, Kate Rittenbaugh, and Maura Lehman added 2 hits apiece.
Olivia Lehman allowed just 2 hits and struck out 3 Bloomsburg batters for the win.
Pine Grove outscored opponents in the state tournament 40-0 so far.
After missing out on the state tournament last year, Pine Grove is back in the Finals. The Lady Cardinals 2017 run was stopped in the championship game by South Park.
This year, Pine Grove faces Bald Eagle Area, which squeaked by Clearfield, 1-0 in the other 3A softball semifinal.
The 2019 Class 3A softball championship is Friday at 1:30 at Beard Field, Nittany Lion Softball Park, Penn State University.
