About these records
Marriage licenses and marriage records are public documents. In Pennsylvania, a couple applies for a license at the Register of Wills office in the county courthouse; the marriage itself is recorded separately after the ceremony takes place. That’s why the same couple often shows up twice here … once when they applied, once when they married.
A license application on its own does not mean a wedding happened. Some couples never marry. Some marry in another county. Where we have a record of the marriage being completed, the search result says so.
Coal Region Canary began compiling these records in November 2025. For anything before that date, contact the Schuylkill County Register of Wills at the courthouse in Pottsville.
