A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for Schuylkill County this weekend.
Heavy snow is likely with significant accumulations possible, says National Weather Service.
The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday through 1 p.m. Monday.
According to the latest forecast from NWS, much of central Pennsylvania is likely to be impacted by this snowstorm.
It’s still unknown where the most snow will fall in the region.
The latest model runs have more than half of them showing a foot or more of snow falling on an area south of Interstate 80 and east of Interstate 99, according to National Weather Service. That area includes Schuylkill County.
However, forecasters in State College say modifications to snowfall totals between now and the start of the storm are “a guarantee.”
Due to another blast of arctic air entering the region, the snowfall will be dry and fluffy so blowing and drifting snow will be possible.
