UPDATE: Charges in this case were dropped.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a Schuylkill County woman who police say violently attacked her ex-girlfriend over the weekend.
Police in Pottsville say they were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of W. Norwegian St. at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, for a reported assault.
At the scene, police say they spoke with the victim of the alleged incident. She said that her ex, Stephanie Barr, 44, of Pottsville, had assaulted her.
The victim reportedly told police that she was laying in bed when Barr returned home with an unidentified woman and told her to leave. Barr then allegedly dragged the victim from the bed by her feet, pulled her hair, and then shoved and punched her.
Police say the victim claims Barr then knocked a phone from her hand to prevent her from phoning police. The unidentified woman then allegedly kicked the phone several times to further prevent the victim from getting it.
The victim was eventually able to escape the situation.
Police say Barr fled the scene with the unidentified woman in a red vehicle. Barr allegedly called police and said she’d go to City Hall to talk about the incident after she sought treatment for her friend, whom she said was injured in the incident. However, Barr has since not called.
A warrant for Barr’s arrest was issued on Sunday. She’s facing charges of simple assault and harassment.
