Schuylkill County Man Jailed on Child Sexual Assault Charges

A Schuylkill County man was arraigned Tuesday and jailed on $100,000 bail in connection with allegations of severe, long-term sexual abuse involving two juvenile females at residences in Berks and Schuylkill counties.

Police say the abuse by Tyler Alting, 35, of Shenandoah, spanned several years, beginning for one victim when she was around six years old and for the second victim when she was 10.

Alting is facing 59 felony charges related to his alleged sexual abuse, including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual abuse, corruption of minors, and aggravated indecent assault.

Both victims reported being subjected to escalating assaults that included forced vaginal, anal, and oral intercourse, as well as digital penetration, police say.

The second victim told police Alting bound her arms and legs behind her back during some of the assaults and verbally abused her when she cried.

The victims told police they were sometimes sexually assaulted at the same time, with one reporting she witnessed Alting assault the other.

Police say the assaults occurred at multiple homes and inside Alting’s vehicle, with the first victim reporting the most recent sexual contact occurred in 2021 or 2022.
