Police are still searching for a Schuylkill County man who allegedly evaded arrest last week, first in a tractor-trailer and then on foot into the woods.
According to an affidavit filed by State Police-Jonestown, Troopers had received information on March 7 that Lee Dubois, 46, of Hegins, was staying at Franzosa Trucking Company in Tremont Township. Dubois is wanted by State Police-Schuylkill Haven on an aggravated assault by vehicle charge from July 2024 in Porter Township, according to court records.
In the area, police say they saw a garage open on the north side of Franzosa Trucking. A tractor-trailer was backing out of the garage as police arrived. Police entered the lot and identified Dubois behind the wheel of the truck.
Police say they activated their lights and siren. One Trooper got out and ran up to the truck and saw Dubois behind the wheel. Dubois, they say, ignored commands to stop and continued driving.
A vehicle pursuit was initiated onto Route 209 and then onto E. Franklin Rd. in Frailey Township. Dubois, police say, then made a right turn and attempted to elude police by driving up a pole line. His truck got stuck and Dubois fled out the passenger door of the truck and ran into the woods.
Police continued their pursuit on foot but abandoned it, citing the conditions.
On Tuesday, police say they interviewed the owner of Franzosa Trucking, who confirmed that Dubois was his employee but that he had no idea he was staying at his garage. Further, he said Dubois was permitted to do vehicle maintenance but was not allowed to operate any vehicle.
In relation to this most recent incident, Dubois is facing felony charges of eluding police and flight to avoid apprehension. He’s also facing misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and evading arrest, along with summary charges of driving with a suspended license and driving with a suspended CDL.
Police are asking anyone with information on Dubois’ whereabouts to contact the Jonestown barracks at 717-865-2194 or Schuylkill Haven at 570-754-4600.
