As a public service, Coal Region Canary provides this free, easy-to-use calculator to help current and prospective property owners determine how much they can expect to pay in property taxes.
Whether you already own a home in Schuylkill County or are looking to buy, this tool takes the guesswork out of your tax bills by giving you an instant estimate of your county, municipal, and school taxes.
How to Use the Property Tax Calculator
Figuring out your new property tax bill doesn’t have to be complicated! Just follow these three quick steps to get your estimated total:
- Enter your assessed value: Type your property’s newly assessed value into the top box. Just use standard numbers—no need to add commas or dollar signs (for example, type 150000 instead of $150,000).
- Select your municipality: Click the drop-down menu and choose the borough, township, or city where your property is located. (Note: If you live in Rush Township, be sure to select the option with your specific school district.)
- Hit calculate: Click the big yellow “Calculate Total Taxes” button.
What Your Results Mean: Once you hit calculate, the tool will instantly break down your estimated tax bill into three categories based on the current 2026-2027 millage rates:
- County Tax: Based on the new 2026 countywide rate.
- Municipal Tax: Specific to the local government of your town.
- School Tax: Specific to the school district your municipality belongs to.
At the very bottom, you will see your Grand Total, which is the total estimated property tax you can expect to pay for the year.
Please note: This calculator provides a close estimate based on the finalized local millage rates. Your official tax bill may vary slightly depending on individual property exemptions.
