A Schuylkill County man accused of performing lewd acts in front of a high school student last year is now facing an additional charge and waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Monday.
Javier Morales-Febles, 47, of Pottsville, is now facing a corruption of minors charge in addition to indecent exposure. The corruption of minors charge was added on Monday when he appeared downtown before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley. He remains free on $50,000 unsecured bail. The charges now go to Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas.
Morales-Febles is accused of exposing himself to a high school student last November while he sat in a vehicle near Alumni Field. He allegedly waved at a Pottsville Area High School student walking to school and when the student approached, hoisted himself up and exposed his genitals while masturbating.
The student identified Morales-Febles from a photo lineup, police say. Morales-Febles had allegedly been parked in the same location for two straight days prior to the incident.
In a follow-up interview at City Hall, Morales-Febles admitted to owning the vehicle in which he was accused of sitting when the student approached but he invoked his right to counsel and police had to stop their interview at that time.
On Monday, Reiley ordered Morales-Febles to stay away from all schools and he’s not to have any unsupervised contact with people under the age of 18.
