Samuel J. Sterns, of Deer Lake, has completed his undergraduate career at West Virginia University with distinction.
The Deer Lake native, who was the 2021 salutatorian for Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville, was awarded two Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, while earning summa cum laude honors.
Sterns was a University Ambassador and the captain of WVU’s Formula 1 race car team. He credits his Coal Region foundation of faith, family and hard work for his collegiate success.
“God, my family, and my education at St. Jerome’s and Nativity are why I have bright prospects for a rewarding career in engineering,” said Sterns, who is presently interviewing with firms across the Mid-Atlantic, East Coast, and Great Lakes regions.
