I am Mike Weres. For 38 years I’ve been a resident of Schuylkill County and have lived in Pottsville for the last 35 of those years.
Before coming here, I was a soldier and that soldier is still in me. In the Army, as in all branches of the military, you were taught duty, honor, responsibility, integrity, and to be mission oriented. These traits I have carried with me ever since.
Pottsville is a strong and resilient city, a diverse community rich in history and tradition. The city is growing and moving forward. As a city council member, I will use what I have learned in life to help continue Pottsville’s growth.
There are many challenges and issues to be overcome. I will work to always have a balanced budget and find the means to finance the city. The parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities will remain safe and inviting.
Public safety is important! We must ensure there are enough police officers and that they have the training and equipment to protect the city and themselves. This includes fire companies and other first responders.
Each of the city’s authorities and boards will have the support and guidance to carry out their important duties in a transparent manner, without being micromanaged.
As a member of council I will work with the mayor, other members of council, and all parties, to ensure Pottsville moves forward and the mission gets completed.
On Election Day, I respectfully ask for your support and your vote. Please vote for Mike Weres along with Tom Wood for city council and Andy Wollyung for mayor. Keep our team WORKING FOR POTTSVILLE.
Thank you and be Pottsville Strong.

Meet Mike Weres..
• Ran in 2023 promising to fix roads & blight. Result? Raised taxes.
• Voted for new fees on the local flea market.
• Pushed for parking meters that got removed.
• Gave the Parking Authority head a $2,500 bonus last year.
• Tried to sneak in a secret bonus vote last month – not on the public agenda!
• Got caught, so they postponed it until after the election.
No thanks, Mike!
