Frank DiMarco, a law enforcement officer and small business owner, has announced his candidacy for Schuylkill County Sheriff in the upcoming Republican primary on May 20.
A resident of Walker Township and a graduate of Tamaqua High School, DiMarco has dedicated 28 years to law enforcement. After graduating from the Reading City Police Academy in 1997, he worked full-time for the Saint Clair Police Department before retiring. He is currently serving as an active officer with the Blythe Township Police Department and also owns an auto repair business in New Philadelphia.
DiMarco’s law enforcement experience includes handling a variety of cases, such as narcotics, thefts, assaults, and civil matters. He has also worked with the public, educating citizens on firearms safety and protecting themselves from scams. Additionally, DiMarco served as a code enforcement officer, collaborating with municipalities and attorneys to address significant code violations that negatively impacted communities.
As a candidate, DiMarco says he is committed to providing transparency within the Sheriff’s office, ensuring that the department is accountable to the taxpayers of Schuylkill County. He promises to be a full-time sheriff and will select a first deputy from the current active Sheriff’s Department personnel.
Fiscal responsibility is another key aspect of DiMarco’s platform. He intends to explore funding options, including grants, to enhance the Sheriff’s department’s capabilities. He says he is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and pledges to uphold the Constitution.
DiMarco’s plans also include cooperation with federal agencies such as ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, offering assistance as prescribed by law. Additionally, he proposes a program to utilize able-bodied inmates from the Schuylkill County Prison to help with community cleanup efforts, including collecting trash along county roads, streets, streams, and rivers.
Another major initiative in DiMarco’s platform is the prevention of gun violence in schools and workplaces. He is exploring the possibility of acquiring a K9 trained in the detection of firearms and explosives. This K9 would be used to secure schools, public buildings, events, and the Schuylkill County Courthouse. The K9 would also serve as a deterrent to potential threats and offer educational demonstrations to schools.
DiMarco, a strong advocate for first responders and veterans, is also a member of the Walker Township and New Ringgold fire companies. His campaign emphasizes his commitment to supporting local firehouses and ensuring the safety of Schuylkill County residents.
