Vision Government Solutions is hosting a series of informational meetings to update property owners on the status of the ongoing reassessment. Meetings are planned a several locations across Schuylkill County this week and next.
According to Tim Barr, of VGS, the company in charge of conducting the reassessment, these meetings will be informational in nature and give property owners a chance to ask questions about the process, not specific property questions.
Barr says these meetings will explain the reassessment process, how valuations are determined, and what the next steps are for property owners. Information will also be available on Homestead Exclusions, the Clean and Green program, and rent rebates.
The five meetings scheduled will all begin at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) and last about 90 minutes. At least half the meeting time will be dedicated to a question-and-answer session.
Here are the dates and locations of these meetings:
- March 17: North Schuylkill High School Auditorium
- March 24: Pine Grove Area High School Auditorium
- March 25: Tamaqua Area Middle School Cafeteria
- March 26: DHH Lengel Middle School Auditorium (Pottsville)
- March 27: Blue Mountain High School Auditorium
By now, property owners should have received a Data Verification Mailer which includes information collected during the data collection phase of the reassessment.
Informal reviews of individual property tax reassessments is the next phase, followed by the appeals process.
Assuming the reassessment is verified, new property tax rates are set to go in effect in 2026.
