Marty Sowers, of Porter Township, has officially announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District 21-3-04.
He says his campaign will emphasize his commitment to public service and the fair administration of justice.
“As District Judge, I will bring my experience in municipal government and my unwavering commitment to the safety, security and constitutional rights of every citizen,” Sowers says in a statement. “I understand the challenges our communities face and I am dedicated to ensuring fairness and justice for all.”
Sowers touts nearly two decades of experience serving the district, saying he has developed a reputation as an advocate for local communities.
As the Municipal Services Manager for Light-Heigel and Associates, he has worked with municipalities in multiple roles, including Building Code Official, Zoning Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, and Floodplain Administrator. He says his background provides first-hand insight into pressing local issues such as blight, truancy, crime, and drug-related concerns.
Beyond his professional work, Sowers has been actively engaged in the community. He has volunteered as a coach for the Williams Valley Midget Football League and Tower Porter Youth Baseball. He is also a member of the Valley View Gun Club and serves as a trustee for Faith Evangelical Church.
A lifelong resident of the area, Sowers lives in Porter Township with his wife, Dione, and their two children, Raegan and Jake. He is a graduate of Williams Valley High School and Mansfield University. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors and woodworking.
