Charges against the fourth suspect in the Minersville General Store armed robbery were held for Schuylkill County Court Tuesday.
Shynir Jeffcoat, 22, appeared in the courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Dave Plachko on Tuesday for his preliminary hearing. Jeffcoat was the last of four suspects apprehended in connection with the Aug. 12, 2024, armed robbery at the Minersville General Store.
He turned himself in to police in November. Za’ir Alvarez, 17, Adan Twigg, 20, and Edward Martinez, 18, all from Pottsville, were arrested within 24 hours of the robbery. Their cases were moved to Schuylkill County Court back in late-September.
Jeffcoat and Martinez are currently free on bail while Alvarez and Twigg remain in custody awaiting trial.
Police say on the night of Aug. 12, Jeffcoat and his three confederates entered Minersville General Store and got away with $9,000 in cash plus merchandise from the store.
Three of the suspects were apprehended within about 24 hours after the incident with Jeffcoat on the lam for several months.
The gun used in the incident was reportedly a BB gun.
In late-December, Jeffcoat entered a guilty plea in Schuylkill County Court on charges he possessed an unlicensed 9mm handgun and drugs during a 2023 traffic stop.
